Earlier I bought and installed a bottle holder to mount on my wife's bike handlebars. phone.To make room for her phone clip I bought this for a water bottle - Great concept but if you aren't careful - as almost EVERY OTHER REVIEWER has pointed out - THE PAINT ON YOUR FRAME WILL BE SCRATCHED. I mounted it on the top downtube and it held up well except for a slight left/right wobble. So when I took it off I noticed that the threads on the screw between the nylon teeth had pushed the paint out! After you cut out a small piece of material that will hold the mat - you know, the material that you put under the mats or put the mats on top so they don't move or slip. Well I had a roll of this stuff and cut out a small piece (just enough to cover the clamping area of this cage). It's not rocket science. Simply cut a small piece and wrap it around the painted frame and then attach the BETO bottle cage and clamp; VIOLA! Not only does this prevent ANY extrusion, but it also keeps the cage exactly where it was intended with no possibility of rotation or movement due to vibration. NOW - Only time will tell if my wife kicks this thing when installing the bike, it'll break but for now it seems relatively solid - As for the reviewer who admitted the wrong color listing - - The, the one I ordered was WHITE - - the one I received was WHITE, not gray. So good luck to anyone considering buying this bottle cage and remember to be careful when installing and make sure there is something between the frame mount and your vehicle's painted frame. If I had to buy again -- I would definitely do it!
