Haven't tested it on the beach yet but my son wore it outside today and he loved it. That speaks very well for the shirt as my son is very picky about the texture of his clothes. It feels soft and is elastic. For reference I've attached a photo of him sitting on it (he wears a size M/12). He is 53 inches (4 feet 5 inches) tall and weighs around 58-59 pounds.
