Worst headphones at this price

These headphones didn't really convince me. Did they really cost $200 once? If so, it's funny. They are very light, with very good noise cancellation for the price, well designed and quite comfortable given their light weight. But. The sound quality is terrible. The music sounds muted - like the high frequencies are being pushed back, so things tend to be poorly articulated on vocals, cymbals and anything really coming from the instrumental side. They don't sound like junk, but the sound quality is more in line with what I'd expect from over-ear headphones for $30-40. The buttons aren't particularly accessible, and in low light, knowing L from R when you put them on is a serious task. I have a pair of Plantronics Backbeat Pro 2s that cost $130 and the sound quality is noticeably better across the spectrum and they have similar noise-cancelling performance. They're heavier, but to be honest they feel sturdier than the Sony 710s, which seem to fall apart in a fall. If the sound quality was better and they had a little more power I would be very happy with it. But I just don't, so I'm bringing them back and sticking with the Set BackBeat Pro 2. Sony should get rid of them and get better gain and better correction and offer app support. If they could do it I would pay another $20 for it and be very happy. But that's not acceptable for the price. To be honest, I don't know if there are worse headphones in this price range.

Pros
  • Noise canceling system automatically detects the environment with dual noise sensor technology
Cons
  • No instructions
