Bought several of these for aging 10yr old great dane who has started wetting the bed almost daily in the last several months. They are big and being big makes them easy to change out. We have 2 beds with the XL covers on and we also put waterproof liners on the memory foam inserts (we use x2 4in memory foam mattress toppers or a full size topper cut in half for each bed) and so far it doesn't seem like any wet has leaked through the outside covers (liners haven't been wet at all when we changed out the cover). Have washed each of them a few times now on delicate setting and they seem to be holding up. Wish we could maybe use the dryer on air fluff with no heat to help dry them since they are so big they do take up some room when hanging to dry. May try that at some point just to see how it works on one of them.Be aware that the liquid will not bead up on this cover like a raincoat or similar, it is absorbed into the outer quilting and that helps contain it and then it doesn't soak through to the inside. I think it is purposely designed that way and we like that since a puddle on the top of the bed would probably make more of a mess. We also put beach towels on the bed to help contain any mess but the dog tends to dig the towels right off the bed when settling in.
