Review on AWP Monster Durable Metal Swiveling by Payton Stovall

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Werner Tool Lasso is better.

I've used the Monster Hook with 18v cordless drills and various nailers. This works well with a drill and is definitely better than trying to juggle the drill while standing on a ladder. Nailers are a different story. The hook is too small to easily remove and attach the nail gun. I've tried positioning the hook both in front of and behind the nailer's handle and I'm having trouble getting the nailer to easily disengage from the hook. The sheet steel belt clip is also a bit wobbly. If you hit a hanging tool with something, you are likely to bend the belt clip. I recently discovered a device at Lowe's called the Tool Lasso, made by the Werner Ladder Company. They use a strong rubber band around the handle of the tool. The strap has a plastic ball that fits into a latch that attaches to the tool belt. I bought two packs to try and quickly decided it was a much better solution than the Monster Hook. The ball will go in and out of the socket easily as you manipulate the tool, but the tool will not fall out unexpectedly. In addition, you can buy additional tapes to put on each of your instruments. Likewise for the price. I hope someone sells them on Revain.

Pros
  • Pivoting clamp evens the tool's center of gravity and keeps the tool in place when you're climbing and bending over
Cons
  • Unbelievable price
