I like her. But worry about the silicone plug

Apparently there is a small silicone plug covering a tiny hole in the outer wall. I assume it has to do with the manufacturing process of these mugs. I have concerns that they will leak over time, although so far I haven't had any problems. I have several thermal espresso cups that don't have this.
