Review on Positioning 5000 Lb Klein Tools KG5295 7L by David Fields

Klein Positioning Strap KG5295-7L, 6-1/2 " carabiner, 7' length

old but not sure I like this new strap as much like the one it replaced. I've had my old 7ft Klein weight strap with shorter 5" Klein Lock [KL] carabiners for many years. I've always felt secure, like a baby in my arms my mom when I attached them with D-rings, but because they were so short they were always difficult to open with gloves on.These new 6-1/2" Klein Guard [KG] carabiners are definitely a lot easier to open with gloves on open, but they feel a little less durable than the old ones, so it takes some getting used to. The tips of these carabiners are narrower than the old ones, and the lock and bolt are stamped from thin steel that bends easily. Also, the yellow chromate Zinc coating of the hook has become thinner Tongue and d clasp for adjusting the length are also made of significantly thinner steel on this new strap, and it no longer has a stand-up collar, but fortunately Klein Cord material. itself looks and feels the same as the material of my old bracelet so at least they haven't changed it. These KG rifles look almost exactly like the ones Buckingham uses, so I'm wondering if they weren't made for Klein.

Pros
  • Gard carabiner rated for 5000 lbs (2268 kg) with proof load
Cons
  • unreliable
