I installed two of these cables on a '99 Silverado. One of the original cables broke and the other was in poor condition. The Dorman cable looked pretty much the same as the original, except it had a bit more shrink tubing on its connector. The two cables were exactly the same length as the original cables. I've had cables on my truck for 6 months now and haven't had any problems or signs of wear. I've had excessive weight on my tailgate at least a dozen times while hauling dirt, moving heavy objects, etc. It's a good solid cable and a lot cheaper than dealer price. Can not complain. Update 11/17/2015: It's been about 4 years since I bought them and they are like new. So far very satisfied.
