Review on Threaded Backlash Elimination Kit by BIGTREETECH Direct by Todd Calloway

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Decent quality and retrofit for Creality printers

I'm surprised how good they are at only $2 each. The finish is about what you would expect but better than a lot of cheap brass nuts. 2 out of 4 were noticeably worse but they are all lube usable. It seems a lot of people install them incorrectly. Screwing in the lead screw without Z-direction movement requires compression of the spring, there is an inevitable slight play when raising the gantry, but this should not be a problem in normal operation.** To any Creality printer buyer: They do NOT work out of the box, but their modification is not difficult. On the attached photos Ender-3 Pro. To mount the nut, just cut 2 sides off with a dremel, grinder, etc. This is soft brass and doesn't require much effort. You only have to make one, but I need it to be compatible with other mods. This does not affect the functionality. The hole spacing is narrower than the original and has NO thread. They are spaced far enough apart to accept standard screws and protrude far enough to attach two M3 nuts (not included). However, the nuts will most likely prevent the spring from sitting flush, which could affect functionality. I decided to sand the corner of each one to make enough room for it to slide past. This also prevents them from turning, making it easier to adjust the screws. It works great but is difficult to put on and take off. The best solution would be to cut screw holes with a slightly larger diameter. Also note that the closer spacing prevents it from being free-floating, which can cause major alignment issues.

Pros
  • Linear Motion Lead Screws
Cons
  • Crumpled
