My son's iPad has had a factory digitizer for over 2 years, protected by a waterproof outer box with no problems. In the end, someone stepped right on the screen and broke it. I bought it and installed it. the installation was difficult, mainly because the old screen was completely broken. After the old one was removed, this one went in pretty easily. The new screen only lasted a month before my son brought it to me and said he dropped it off the bed onto the carpet and the digitizer broke again. I ordered a new one and installation was a breeze again. The newest one lasted only a few months before another crack appeared. Finally, after months of crack propagation, it was time for another replacement. It just seems to me that the glass just isn't as strong as the factory glass.
