Review on DonJoy Performance Stability Basketball Volleyball Sports & Fitness by Josh Fox

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Flexible front to back and durable side to side. Fantastic stand.

I purchased this ankle brace after spraining my ankle twice (not a serious sprain). I've tried taping and traditional cloth/velcro braces but they never felt supportive enough and cloth braces felt bulky and inflexible. The POD is lightweight, fits well in my boots even with the insole, is strong when flexed towards the ankle rotation but flexible when I run. My only problem occurred during my first and second wears when the upper middle portion of the brace was digging into my shin/tendon and was very painful. After that I watched DonJoy's video on how to put on the orthosis correctly and had no more problems. I would recommend wearing a high sock and putting on a knee brace so the weight is on the foot and the ankle is flexed. When playing, I occasionally tighten the toe and back of the brace to ensure the center of the brace is as close to the arch of the foot as possible.

Pros
  • Molded TPU shell conforms to the anatomical shape of each foot; Low profile design and adjustable fit for a custom fit
Cons
  • Expensive
