Come for protection, stay for sound

I bought a Poetic TurtleSkin case to use on a generic 12.9" iPad Pro in our office and it seems like a good choice for an iPad to be thrown in a bit or dropped on the table and moved to different places. The case itself is made of soft, flexible rubber. While the very thick bumper around the case seems to offer good protection, the case is more flexible than ribbed, so the iPad is still prone to being crushed or bent when someone sits on it (e.g.). This is especially true for the 12.9-inch iPad. Overall, for me, the TurtleSkin offers adequate protection without adding too much weight to an already large iPad. Because TurtleSkin has no front cover, your screen is exposed. This is normal for me as I prefer cases without a front cover. However, to protect the screen a bit, I also use a tempered glass screen protector. One downside to the case is the pen holder on the back, which is just a rubber loop. It holds the pencil very securely and definitely won't fall out. However, with a stylus in the holder, the iPad does not rest fully on the table, and the stylus can be damaged if you drop the iPad on the table. I really wish they would put some extra rubber on the right bumper for the pencil sleeve or just put that rubber loop on the side instead of the back. Finally, I was a little worried about the sound mute on the iPad. To my surprise, the case actually improves the sound in volume and clarity. This is because the speaker cutouts direct sound forward toward the listener, rather than backwards like the iPad itself. It's really quite noticeable. And the fact that a cheap rubber sleeve significantly improves the sound of an outrageously expensive iPad is quite poetic.
