My wife and I started Pickleball last year. In the center where we play (in the hall) there is a choice of 15 different brands/types of racquets that players can use, all graphite, polymer or a combination. Most of these "public" paddles have a lip guard, while the pair have no lip guard. We tried all the different blades and decided we definitely preferred the edgeless design, but didn't like the feel of either blade. At the time, these were the only ribless pickleball paddles I could find on Revain the Sabu and Amazing Aces Bainbridge, but we weren't impressed with the Sabu center paddles, so we took a chance on Amazing Aces Bainbridge. Compared to all others, Bainbridge's aluminum core is much more "popular" and makes the paddle lighter and more responsive. I average 10-30 games a week and only have a few tiny chips at the very edge of the paddle. My wife plays less and less aggressively and hers still looks brand new. From time to time I borrow a racquet from another player to try and they all sound heavy and slow in comparison, with a 'thud' rather than a 'popping' sound.
