Review on ๐Ÿ’ป IOGEAR GUS402 Peripheral Sharing Switch: 2 Computers, 4-Port USB 2.0 Efficiency by Edgardo Ennis

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Unreliable product for computers and accessories

I bought this switch to make it easy to switch my keyboard, mouse and camera between my PC and MacBook. The external switch knob was ideal because it allowed me to use nano tape to mount the switch and knob under the table (the knob was next to the controls on the table). Using standard USB-C also helped a lot as other (less expensive) switches didn't work properly with my MacBook. Unfortunately, this switch also has a serious problem - it expects both computers to be powered on, otherwise it won't switch inputs. . So if I turn off one computer and try to use the other the next morning without turning on BOTH first, I can't switch inputs. I also have a dedicated power cable (micro-USB for some reason) that goes to the switch and the light is clearly on. but the Enter Shift key itself doesn't really work unless both computers are on. Unfortunately, I don't know the best options. If you don't use a regular USB hub and want to manually switch USB cables to switch inputs, this switch is probably as good as it gets. Too bad it's so poorly designed that both inputs need to be active for input switching to work. It's like. IOGEAR: Your switch had A JOB. And in that you failed. And you charge 5X more than any other switch to download. This is unacceptable.

Pros
  • Easily switch to any of the connected computers with the push of a button
Cons
  • Expensive
