. I needed hinges that would allow a small 2' x 2' platform to run to the center of the train using an O-gauge model rail track as a catwalk. Layout. The path (two lanes) must intersect at both ends of the platform with a walkway on stationary platforms on each side. Conventional pivot points create too much spacing between the tracks for the platform "bridge" to be raised. But these cabinet door hinges go up and out so the track can be very close. Close enough for trains to cross without derailing in the down position. Strong enough to raise the "bridge" platform for passage. Perfect. This is called "out-of-the-box thinking". I used a total of six loops for this project. Strong enough.
