This portable label printer is powered by 6 AAA batteries which are not included. Both sides of the label printer cover can be opened and one side is for batteries while the opposite side is for the label tape cartridge. You can scan the QR code in the user manual to find and download the free app on your smartphone. The app was able to quickly connect to the label printer via bluetooth. I couldn't believe how many options and features were available in the app. It has so many templates and styles to choose from. In addition, it had many images, grouped in categories, that you can insert in the text that you will print as a label. After printing, there is a button on the top of the label maker that cuts the label cleanly. The label itself has adhesive tape on the back when you peel it off so you can stick the label on any smooth surface. The label is also made of waterproof material. Text and images are printed clearly and without blemishes. 5 out of 5 stars. I highly recommend this label printer.
