I have used this with a 100 micron filter to catch large sediment particles up to the coiled filter canister, works well. I found the 40 micron filter to be a little small for my use, I had to clean it quite often to keep it from clogging. I actually bought 2 of these to quickly swap out the filter and sphere so I could soak them in citric acid overnight to remove the rust stain from the filter and sphere.
