Review on πŸͺ’ Chrome Double Edge Safety Reusable Razor with Long Handle by WEISHI by Ashley Davis

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best way to run a razor down your neck!

I've shaved with this razor a few times (using the included YingJiLi blades) and it has changed me. A very positive first impression. The razor is quite heavy in the hand and the razor head opening/closing mechanism seems to work properly and hold the blade firmly in place. In my opinion a nice shaver. I have big hands so I figured a long handle would work, but in practice I don't think it makes much of a difference. The razor was well packaged in a box with a small pack of 5 DE blades each individually double wrapped in a paper envelope. I have no complaints about either and would recommend it to anyone who wants a close, smooth shave. If you have facial hair (moustache, beard, chin strap, etc.) this razor works very well to cut a nice sharp/straight line when brushing. Obviously that single blade is easier to control than sloppy cartridges. You can get this razor and save tons of money by buying DE blades for less than a small pack of cartridge razors. Even "expensive" blades are only around twenty dollars for 100 blades, with most brands costing half that. I bet that will probably help most people live at least a year. I ordered different blades to try out as it is generally accepted that a blade that one person likes may not suit another. The blades that come with this razor aren't generally very popular, so I'm hoping the whole experience will be even better with other blades. Haha I couldn't stop writing, fair warning, SUPER LONG story/review below: I started shaving with a foil razor when I was a teenager. I quickly decided it was useless and switched to disposable blades. (In retrospect, these were probably the best razors I've ever used.) As I got older, I followed the order of 2, then 3, then 4...5...etc cartridge blades. I've tried all these different electrics. All of that. I've always hated shaving. I have a very thick, coarse beard but very sensitive skin. Obviously this is not a very attractive combination for a person who has to shave every day. I've tried tricks, potions, lotions and everything else but my throat always looked (and felt) like it had been attacked by a cheese grater. This resulted in me not shaving every day which resulted in ingrown hairs. It was a vicious cycle. I eventually switched to a set of electric clippers and ended up looking like a 5 o'clock shadow. It saved my skin from irritation but wasn't as comfortable as a clean shave. I was talking to my dad a few weeks ago and he casually mentioned that he had bought a new safety razor. He realized he had forgotten how big they were. (I remembered his razors and soap and all that from when I was a kid. I loved everything.) For some reason, that conversation had been on my mind for about a week when I decided to get my hands on a razor. Of all the hair removal methods I've experienced over the years, I can't explain why I've never tried a basic safety razor. After three decades of shaving, I finally have one. When researching razors, I kept seeing Weishi as a manufacturer of safety razors of one brand or another. It seems that just about any razor under twenty dollars that can be opened by twisting is probably made by them. All reviews of reasonable people seem quite favorable. I currently have a beard (a winter tradition. The rest of the year I have a moustache/goatee) but I shave my neck and brush my cheeks over my beard. :-Take a hot shower, rub skin thoroughly with soap.-Dab back of neck with a towel, but don't dry completely.-Apply oil before shaving (I use Shave Secret. Wlmrt sells it for about a third of the price). on Revain, FYI)- Pour hot water into a shaving brush and apply shaving cream (I use green Proraso shaving cream) to the lather. - Comb the stubble with a brush/soap. , flushing the blade with each strike. - Rinse skin with cold water when finished. - A splash of witch hazel on the skin. - The touch of a styptic pen causes a slight tingling in the throat (Clubman styptic, again much cheaper on Wlmrt than Revain.) Old folks. Yummy!) - Conquer the world. { Additional note: if you can enjoy a glass of good bourbon while doing so, it really adds a twist. If you're not a bourbon lover, try a cup of Irish coffee. Maybe your favorite music is also playing in the background. Tumble dry your boxers and a fresh tank top for wear when you're done. Relive a boring quest. I assure you that you will feel like a million bucks when you finish. It's an affordable luxury!} So, after all that chatter, what's my conclusion? I can shave with a razor again. I shaved multiple days in a row for the first time in... more years than I can remember. I have a few slightly red spots on my neck, but they don't hurt/irritate and are probably due to my inexperience/technique. Shaving these areas the next day gives me no discomfort, while the irritation from cartridge razors prevents me from shaving the next day without heavy bleeding and pain.

Pros
  • Sturdy design
Cons
  • Without automatic razor
