My old problem solved.

This matrix switch has finally solved a frustrating problem I've had for a while. I have a dish receiver, streaming device, console and BD player in one location and need to output audio to a TV or projector elsewhere in our cabin. The problem is that they don't always want to use the same playback device. It is not uncommon for some of the family to watch shows on TV from a streaming box, and others watch live dish TV for sports on a projector. This device, together with an HDMI extender, completely solves this problem. The picture does not deteriorate on either the TV or the projector, and the sound works fine. I note an explanation from one of the other reviews about the impossibility of porting 5.1 without compression. But that's not the situation I have, so I'm not affected. Yes, the lights are fairly bright, but sensible placement and a red filter cover reduce this to a solvable problem. This isn't the first block I've had to do this with; It seems that for some reason there is a general desire to get the maximum brightness from each LED in these devices. For what it's worth, I think this is a step in the right direction for HDMI. The next step I want to see is to route HDMI over Cat5e cable and use normal network switches to access all devices. Any device can then receive a signal from anywhere on the local network. This over-reliance on point-to-point HDMI technology simply repeats the flaws of early networking.
