My first review of Revain. on a product I've owned for 10 years! I sincerely consider it one of the most valuable security features in my home. right there with smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. My radio has been in active use for 10 years. At first I only bought it because I was interested in severe weather, but I quickly realized not only the value of the product itself, but also the amazing work our National Weather Service is doing. The NWS issues alerts to protect us, but most people just listen to their neighbors' sirens. The problem is that sirens are meant to be heard by people OUTSIDE! They may not be loud enough to be heard in your home at any distance from a siren, loud thunder, or a rooftop rainstorm. Am I waking up to a storm on the other side of the county? Of course. But I'm willing to use my brain for 45 seconds when the alarm goes off to listen to the announcement and find out if my family is in danger. EOM detection is very important on this model. Your radio will turn off automatically when prompted to do so. which is mandatory for nighttime alerts. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
