I have a new phone without a 3.5mm jack and had to buy a USB-C adapter to connect the microphone to this new phone. After looking at a bunch that claimed to be what I need none of them worked. This one was at the bottom of my list because of the price. But after other models I've bought never worked properly I figured I'd take this one and return it if it didn't work. When it arrived I was initially surprised that it came in a real box. , not just in a small plastic bag. This one actually had a foam-lined box that only had a cutout for the adapter. It looked promising. I took it out of the box, connected it to my phone and microphone, and launched the camcorder app. The app recognized that I was using a USB microphone and automatically selected it. Another pleasant surprise. Then I pressed the record button and started speaking into the microphone. When I played the recording I honestly thought it hadn't recorded anything. But it happened! I was happy with the device. I would recommend this USB-C to 3.5mm adapter to anyone who has a phone without a 3.5mm jack and needs to connect a microphone to capture audio for video. So why the four stars? Well, the wire between the two ends of the device is pretty thin. If it were thicker and seemed more durable that would be a five star rating. This thin cable does not affect the quality of the recording, it depends on your microphone and the capabilities of your phone. Here's what I used for my setup: Phone - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+, Microphone - Rode. The video mic and camcorder apps are full versions of the FilmicPRO and Moment apps. I also tried the included Samsung video camera app and it worked. I don't know if this works on other devices. I'm sure there are other reviews that can let you know if it works with your device. My experience is only on Note 10+. Hooray!
