Review on πŸ–¨οΈ Copper Filament Printers by Gizmo Dorks by David Boone

Revainrating 4 out of 5

5% copper as of February 2020

X-ray showed approximately 4.7% by weight (0.7% by volume) in a 200g roll. The methods are described at the end of this overview. This filament looks and prints well; The photo compares a fresh sheet of copper, older coins in various states, and the 3D printed sheets of this thread on the right (the top ones have been sanded). I was just hoping for 25% copper to achieve high radiopacity on multi-material prints. maybe 1kg of rolls is 25%, but I don't want to bet on that. I have to go to another manufacturer for what I'm looking for. --- Exposures were measured through six panels of varying thickness from 0 to 1.6mm at 60 and 80 kVpk. These measurements were compared to identical panels of plain white PLA and established data for pure copper (confirmed by several 1mm thick panels). The thickness ratio that predicted values closest to those measured with this filament was 0.9932 PLA and 0.0068 copper.

Pros
  • Additive Manufacturing Products
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
