Received this yesterday and it works! We bought this because the 6 disc CD/DVD changer in our van no longer works and we are taking the kids on a road trip. Our van system has A/V inputs that will still work even if the discs are stuck. Here are a few thoughts based on yesterday's testing:1. The unit sounds very loud when the disc starts spinning. That's fine since the sound comes out of our car speakers, but it would probably be difficult to hear a movie through the DVD player speakers.2. However, the built-in speakers sound bad. I heard them before I connected the thing. It sounds very high and tinny. In other words, if you're watching something with a lot of action, you'll likely miss that boomy low-end sound that gets your heart beating in intense scenes.3. If you connect the DVD player with A/V cables, the sound still comes out of the player. It won't matter to our kids as they will hear the sound through the van's speakers, but we'll be up front where the player is and hope it won't be a nuisance.4. The included A/V cable: Boy, is that thing a joke. I'm sure most of you know what A/V cables are, these are the red, white and yellow cables you use to connect DVD players or game consoles to a TV. The included cable has a 3.5mm jack (headphone jack size) on one end and red, yellow, and white "holes" on the other end. That means if you want to connect it to your TV, you'll have to buy an extra A/V cable. This acts as nothing more than an "extension" because it doesn't connect to anything. As we will need this on our trip I'm glad I opened it now and not on the day we were leaving. They would have been better off just plugging the input "holes" onto the player and telling you to buy your own cable. At least that's easily interchangeable. I'm afraid the short cable that came with it is going away and I don't know how interchangeable it is. All in all I think this is a functional unit. It will serve its purpose. It feels on the cheap side, but we didn't buy the most expensive model either. I'm only giving it 3 stars because I feel the A/V cable should be better, connecting it should override the speakers on the unit and the loud noise the thing makes spinning a disc would be probably uncomfortable for most users.
