I am using this in a RAID 5 configuration. Installing the drives was easy. After the drivers were installed and I powered on the device, it automatically chose RAID 5. I first configured it via USB on a Windows PC and then migrated to eSata on Linux Debian. This box works great! The light is bright but I want to see that the drives are working well and that will be in my basement computer room. Light is not a problem for me. Edit: The light is too bright and we're distracting me. In the end I covered them with a piece of black thick paper. I turn it regularly to check the condition of the light. I would still buy it again. Edit: April 2020 - This little guy is still going strong. I moved to a new Debian server and switched to USB 3.0 with no problems. I've moved and have a setup that doesn't require the blue lights to be covered. I used it as a RAID 5 with (4) 3TB drives. I am considering upgrading the drives for more capacity. I have 2.6TB of free space left, but it won't be long. ;)
