This is a fantastic way to store sockets. The base is magnetic so you can place the entire holder on the side of a regular metal tool box or anything else a magnet would stick to. It's also what keeps the sockets in place. There are no small magnets in these holes - it's the ground plane you see underneath, so nothing will get lost or come loose (the bushings will always stick unless they're aluminum, stainless steel or something non-magnetic). I can't think of anything better to hold my sockets. I started with a set of 10 SAE and 10 metric (10 deep and 10 shallow of each type) and added more to complete this set. The only problem I have is that the largest one (5/8 inch) doesn't fit in the hole. It's "SK" and I think it's a bit thicker metal so the hole needs to be reamed a bit. didn't remove the star - I think it's a socket, not a holder. I liked it so much I went and got metric for my 1/4" metric drive nuts (mentioned above). OK, that should have been for the RED Ares SAE socket mount. I'm happy with the metric too. My only wish for the metric is that it has a different mount for the 15mm socket (shallow and deep).
