A decent polyclay starter for $20!

So I wanted to do something with polymer clay. I used to work with other clays, but mostly just for sculpting. I picked it up because it had different colors and a few basic tools (it was also nice that it came in a box so it didn't dust the clay even though it's cheap plastic). Just so you know, clay sticks are pretty small, but typically people buy small paints (2 ounces) and save the paints they regularly use in bulk (8 or 16 ounces). This is not a downside, just to let you know what to expect. I've done a few things with this clay. The first was Toadstool, which I also used Sculpey III for. Unfortunately, I no longer have a photo of the modelling, but when I baked red caps for it, cracks appeared in the clay. They're relatively small, though, and if you sand them enough you can probably fix them (I got fed up with even sandpaper and just painted them instead). I've added photos of the final product which included Sculpture III (mushroom white) and paint but it looks great! So you can learn about it in detail, it's just that it takes a lot of time. I also have some photos of the leaves that I made with silicone paste or fondant mold. It took and held texture decently, but good luck with the hand sculpting. Also, despite the fact that the kit instructions say to bake the parts on an aluminum sheet, I wouldn't do that. I've tested the leaves on both aluminum foil and parchment, and some parts of the leaves baked in aluminum have an odd sheen (hope you can see that in the photo where I'm holding the leaf). It's thin and if you stain them it doesn't matter, but I'd say they stick to the parchment. The leaves still have a certain flexibility, but appear a bit brittle. I'm worried about bending them too much in case they break. All in all not a bad buy if you get it at the right price and you just want to try the stuff. But you definitely have to buy additional items to do really detailed things.
