The lead is too thin and I can't see what my children are writing. They need softer lead so they can be used on my kids. That's very bad because those are the pencils my first year picks up. He is left-handed and in first grade. My other kid who uses them is in 3rd grade and right handed. Well now I see they have newer ones with erasers that should be darker. I'll try to update my review when I see what my kids write. To update! New pens write darker! Kids don't always apply enough pressure to make a big difference, but it definitely helps. It's still her pencils. I wish there were good eraser caps sold separately that fit larger pens. That would be preferable to the new internals in my opinion. (As you can see, the updated pens are generally better than the original ones.
