After trying a few pocket radios, I settled on the black upgraded Lephone for its superior fitment and feature set at this price point (less than $17). In the greater Los Angeles area, this small radio picks up all the major stations and, given the right atmospheric conditions, even stations from San Diego to San Francisco. In remote areas or rural towns, the reception may not be as good and strong. This rating is only for the air-filled metropolitan area and mainly for the AM band. The limited tests on the VHF band were also very good. And the sound of music files stored on an SD card is excellent for a speaker of this size. The dial is illuminated for nighttime use. The hard clicks of the keys are loud for nighttime use, but remain acceptable. The battery lasts about 3-4 days with moderate use at low volume. Seller Jade Dragonfly is very responsive and answers questions quickly and politely. This pocket radio is one of the top contenders in this price range. Stop searching and give it a try.
