I have a 16 year old cat who has hip and back pain and loves to sleep on my loft bed. In our old house one of the younger cats took over my bed and Gracie had to admit it because she hated the soft ladder I used to give her. Now, in her new place, she is a queen again and can stand up and get out of bed comfortably. I wish I had found this sooner. I took off a star because the bottom board is two boards connected with fabric which caused the board you were working with to wobble which was just annoying.
