I was looking for a mic that would improve the quality of my singing. I have a softer, richer voice and I needed a mic that offered clarity and volume. Tried Sennheiser e935 and Shure sm58. The E935 was warmer and had less proximity effect. However, I had to be very close to the mic to pick up the vocals and the PA system made a hissing noise when the gain was turned up. Then I tried the SM58 - it was good but muddy and bass-heavy. So I tried Beta 58A. I was amazed at how clear and crisp it sounded and improved my tone. Even though the gain was very high, there was no hiss from the speakers! It was amazing compared to the e935. Also, it picked up my voice pretty well, even 1-2 inches back. Overall I'm very impressed with this mic and prefer the e935 over the regular 58.
