I don't know what the problem with this device is. I bought it because I had several hard drives that I needed to erase before recycling. I connected the device, it installed without any problems and everything looked fine. Then I tried to install the Acronis software that I downloaded from Sabrent. He asked me for an activation serial number. After opening a support ticket and telling myself I didn't need a serial number, I took it upon myself to uninstall and reinstall Acronis. This seemed to fix that problem. So we're on our way. The first 2 drives I worked with were 500GB. No problem, but no matter what I tried, every drive I put in this case after that, the operating system insisted it was also 500GB, regardless of drive size or type. had a 250GB partition and 250GB of dedicated space. I received I/O errors when attempting to perform operations on the disk, apparently because the disk was half the size reported. After that I tried updating the firmware, everything seemed to go smoothly, but now the Acronis software says I don't have any Sabrent devices connected to my system. I think the right answer is to return that and spend some extra money as it's impossible to work with. Tech support seems ok but there are too many issues while I try to complete the task. Currently not recommended.
