I bought this umbrella for my trip to Disney after looking at the recommendations of some travel planning groups. I didn't know if it would be better than an ordinary umbrella but I decided to give it a try. So the first day when it was really hot and I was fed up with my hat and fan collar, which is cool and needs, I threw them away to try and beat the heat. And it worked! As soon as I opened it up and lifted it over my head, I literally felt the temperature drop a few degrees and I felt cooler. I used a hotel umbrella last time in Annapolis when I had to walk in the sun like a very beautiful person and it wasn't a good experience so I didn't have high hopes for this product but it delivered
