Review on ๐Ÿ•๏ธ Eddie Bauer Home Percale Collection Twin Size Sheet Set: 100% Cotton, Crisp & Cool, Lightweight & Moisture-Wicking Bedding - Campout Design by Debbie Washington

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Eddie Bauer quality sucks.

First. I wanted percale sheets (one star, description only) to replace a 25 year old Fieldcrest sheet set I have which is still in great condition but dated (pattern is mid 1990's). ) and slightly faded after being washed almost weekly for 25 years. These sheets are smooth, crisp yet soft with good drape (not sticky like microfiber but not stiff like cardboard). I've removed the material details from the label but I suspect it's mostly cotton with some polyester. They never crease, wash well, don't get dirty and are generally of excellent quality. So I looked for a more modern replacement. I wanted a plaid and I wanted a percale (a cotton blend would be perfect but I can't find one, especially one with a nice pattern), in a queen size set. Seems reasonable. Apparently it's too much. People were tricked into becoming obsessed with counting streams. The type of cotton and fabric are just as important folks. Spirit. I found this bed sheet set after many hours of scouring the internet. The colors are ok, at least not intrusive and checkered (check!). They claim it's percale. Percale is made from long-staple (usually Egyptian) cotton, and the weave has an equal number of stitches running in both directions. These two properties result in a cloth that is smooth on both sides (same thread count) and the nature of the cotton ensures that the threads are smooth and do not curl. The number of threads cannot be very large since you can only add a few stitches per square inch with this type of weave. Usually top 100 to mid 200. I don't know what they made these reeds out of, but they are terrible and rough on the surface. They are either not true percale fabric or they used very poor quality cotton like a cheap brand would. Also, we have standard sized pillows which are very flat as we sleep both on our side and on our stomach (pillows don't raise much) and these pillowcases do NOT completely cover the ends of our pillows. I measured them against my 25 year old set and they are about 4 inches shorter than my old pillowcases. lies directly on the pillow itself, without a protective pillowcase. THIS is a hygiene problem. Shame on Eddie Bauer and if you have fluffy pillows I can guarantee they won't fit right. hard work to break them. My husband wouldn't fall asleep on them and I tossed and turned trying to sleep, ignoring how prickly they were. I'm never one of those people who have trouble falling asleep, so this is really amazing to me. I feel 100% deceived. Not only that, but the tiny finished stitching on the edges with no padding will cause it to wrinkle and dry with washing. Which only makes the pillowcases and sheets more apt. I swear my 1990s percale set comes out of the dryer no problem, I just toss it on the bed and pillows and it looks amazing. - Murika, you fell. I do not recommend this. Update: The star rating has gone from 2 to 1 and it would be zero if I could give it that rating. These are the WORST sheets I have ever had and I am 51 years old. After 10 washes they are still too scratchy and DEFINITELY NOT PERCAL. PERCALE has the same texture on both sides and these sheets are very rough on the pattern side but slightly less rough on the reverse. However, after 10 washes I put them inside out on my bed (smooth side) and they're still scratchy, grab the clothes you wear to bed when you roll over and they cling to everything - flat sheet snags tight sheet, a flat sheet sticks to the ceiling and to you. Again, the pillowcases don't cover our standard small flat-bottomed pillows, and I tug at the pillowcases all night. To say I sleep terribly on these sheets is an understatement. I never thought sheets could ruin your sleep. Eddie Bauer should be ashamed. I would like to donate them but feel sorry for whoever gets them in the end. I wouldn't give her to my worst enemy.
