I use it to measure the time of short exercises, not for cooking. This is the ONLY timer I can find that a) takes up so little space and b) multiplies by seconds, not just minutes as some of my exercises are done in 30 second increments. I have to mention two issues regarding the battery (although of course they are sold with a battery which is perfect): First, replacement batteries are IMPOSSIBLE to find. There is an American made "spare battery" that causes this problem. : This are coin cells , and the right thickness is required so the plastic tabs on the battery cover don't break when you twist it to secure the battery. I hate buying new timers instead of new batteries as I use these on a daily basis.
