I was very surprised how different WiFi extenders can be. Some time ago I bought a floor extension for my personal needs. I have a building about 30 feet from my house that has no internet. This extension did the job. The first power strip I bought didn't work, it kept getting hot and had to be restarted. It also had to be installed in the furthest part of my house, near the wall closest to the building. RockSpace AX1800PROS: The construction is very robust and durable. It has directional antennas that can be moved throughout the range of motion. Setup was easy. Even after I unplugged it from the network, it saves whatever information you have so it loads right away. You can see it in real time in the video above. The initial setup took less than 5 minutes with the included little guide. The range is great, I get everything but 1 signal bar from the above outbuilding. Only walls and roof disturb, if it was a straight line it would be the maximum I'm sure. My signal in my house is now at maximum in every room. When installing, you can use the extension cord in two ways. I use it as my main range extender. The device was very reliable and held the signal without requiring a reset. The unit does not heat up and is not unreliable like the other branded unit I first bought. CONS: The price is a bit higher than other brands, but RockSpace is a trusted brand and you get what you pay for. The device is a bit larger, so this can be a disadvantage if you are short on space. All in all I would definitely recommend the RockSpace AX1800. I'm getting rid of my original power strip and replacing it with an AX1800!
