My neighbor gave me the remains of a cedar from a fence he built. I thought this would be great for covering a small storage area under the stair case I was working on and wanted to install a tongue and groove cutter that would help me do this without causing gaps between the boards. I quickly realized that these bits were probably not designed for 1" (3/4") thick material, at least not when used without a router table. The bearing on the end that is supposed to roll along the edge does not touch the edge when used on 1by stock. So if you work without a router table, you will gouge your part. It seems obvious now, but you can see it in the product photos. The section of the drill that cuts out the "V" also barely touches the top surface when the bit depth is set to Material 1, and you end up with a very shallow "V". However, they appear to be very durable. I cut both sides of about 200 feet of cedar with no problem. I was able to get them to work with 1by stock, but for best results you definitely need a router table and/or use them on thicker stock.
