Decent Coffee Brewing Scale

I was skeptical about buying a scale this cheap ($20) but was pleasantly surprised to find the scale consistent. I don't know how good the accuracy is; I haven't checked with a calibrated weight, but absolute weight isn't as important as proportions when coffee is brewed in a French Press, so the scale does the job well. I particularly like that the scale can be powered from three different sources: 1 . Internal rechargeable lithium battery2. 3 AAA alkaline batteries (or NiMh batteries)3. External 5V power supply (which charges the internal lithium battery) to the micro USB port on the side. The scale is easy to use and read. There's really only one problem I've found: the buttons are too sensitive. Your finger doesn't even have to touch the button; he just has to get really close. This causes a problem if the slightest amount of water drips onto the panel and hits one of the buttons. The water acts like a push of a button. This happened to me this morning while pouring hot water into a french press. I added ground coffee and hit the tare button. When refilling water (I needed 360g) the display suddenly changed to "25". I had no idea what had happened, but later flipped through the owner's manual and realized I had accidentally changed the display to "stuff". This is a useful feature when you want to count the parts. Not knowing what went wrong, I removed the pan from the scale and put it back in. But I lost the kettle's own weight, so I had to figure out how much water to add. I noticed that a very small amount of water came out of the kettle when I poured it into the French Press. Unfortunately, that drop of water hit the "Pieces" button and caused the scale to go into that mode. must be reset. My advice to anyone who owns this scale is to take precautions not to spill liquid onto the plate when measuring. That one downside aside, I find the Lan Sheng digital scale to be good value for money.
