These toilet cleaning tablets are individually wrapped (12 tablets total). a tablet with a mild odor that reminds me of bleach. I followed the directions printed on the product packaging for using these pills: 1) I flushed the toilet and flushed the water. 2) I put the pill in the water tank and used a glove when handling the pill. Over the next few weeks, when I blushed, I smelled a chemical odor - mild for the first week, after that the smell lessened. I love that the tablet helped keep our toilet clean, free from excessive stains (to be honest we clean our toilets regularly too) and bathroom odors were minimal (although replaced with a chemical smell became).
