Review on πŸ§— Singing Rock R44 Fire-Resistant Static Rope, 11.2mm Diameter, 200 Feet Length by Daniel Morris

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Worn rope received

I have ordered several Singing Rock Route 44 ropes and have found them excellent. However, my most recent order of Orange 150' 11.2mm rope had two problems. One is relatively small and the other large. First was the date the rope was made. I ordered in April 2018, the rope I received was made in March 2017 and is over a year old. One year actually reduces the life of this rope by 10%, as the lifespan decreases by about 10 percent for every year the rope is stored unused. The rope I received was not actually used, but it was not made new. The second problem is also related to my last order mentioned above. The problem occurred with two Singing Rock Route 44 150 foot ropes purchased from the same seller through AMAZON. The first rope (my April order) was replaced by the seller and the replacement had the same issue. The portion of this first rope that I got had grooves running diagonally four or five feet down the rope, about 60 feet from one end of the rope. The stripes are created by wearing several strands of rope diagonally. Running a friction clutch along this stretch of rope caused the clutch to "stick," exposing the inner white core of the rope. On other undamaged sections of the rope, the clutch functioned normally. This rope was replaced by a second rope. When we pulled it out of the bag and examined the second rope, we found the exact same frayed pattern (diagonal stripes). As with the first rope, these diagonal grooves reappeared at 4-5 feet, at 60 feet from one end of the rope, and again at 50 feet. These defects are unacceptable for life support devices. Attempts to contact the manufacturer were unsuccessful. After a successful initial correspondence with a US dealer asking them to test samples of current stock to determine if the problem was systemic or specific to a specific batch, subsequent requests for updates went unanswered. The problem may be related to a specific batch, I don't know. And I may order again as I have had good success with ropes in the past but will probably wait a while. ALWAYS inspect your ropes before use (!), especially if they are used in jobs that could be dangerous. to life and health.
