We only had one remote control for a 2003 GM car. It was old, dirty, with part of the key ring broken off and generally didn't work well. I found a YT video showing how to disassemble the remote and clean it with 99% isopropyl alcohol. I cleaned the circuit board and its contacts and put it in a new shell. I had to file the outside of the board a bit with a nail file to get it to fit properly, but it didn't make much of a difference. Connect the new case to the old circuit board and voila! Now I have a "new" remote control for this machine!
