I cut the cable and went with the 3500STBiii (3) as it was said to have an improved remote control. The basic functioning of the tuner is pretty reliable as long as you give it a decent (70%+) signal. A new remote control with lots of programmable buttons to perform some of the TV's functions is such a joke. The instructions that came with it are just wrong. Called their support team and they were clueless and tried to tell me to follow the instructions for the 3500STBii(2) instead. That won't work either. Support said they would call me back on Monday because they took half a day off! Yes, that's right, don't call on Monday. I spent an hour playing with the remote to figure out how to get it to remember all the functions.... You have to link all the commands right after setting the very first power function. Once you see the red light on the new remote flashes 3 times that it has accepted the code from your old remote, you need to press the 'Continue' function button on the new remote you want to program, then take the old remote and pick it up Press any function until the red light on the new remote blinks 3 times... repeat for all function buttons in the white box and when done press the " Setup" to complete the learning process. first the power function, then vol+, then vol-, then opt 2, opt 3, and finally opt 1. If the new remote doesn't flash red 3 times after each step, it's most likely not working. Start over and try again... it took a few times for the features to work the way I wanted. All that, and then when you're watching TV from your bed, there's no backlight on the remote to see which button is which. Sorry, but too much work, not enough features. Of course, it only shows the lineups by channel, you need to switch channels to see the lineup of the next station. Coming from a wired remote/box and being able to just scroll up/down to see all channels is a real downer. Sometimes the sound is not in sync with the picture. I didn't understand how well cables and their remotes work, channel strips, perfect resolution, one remote control. Sigh, I keep telling myself I save $70 a month.
