Review on Abatron WoodEpox Replacemnt Compound Gallon by Jeremy Jackz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

ASTM tests indicate that WoodEpox has similar strength to softwoods such as pine and should be able to handle the stress without issue.

I had a wood rot problem and watched a Wood Wizzards video on replacing with epoxy for structural wood repairs. I looked for reasonable alternatives and Abatron turned out to be a bomb. I de-rotted the wood, applied Abatron liquid wood to the bare wood and then flooded it with WoodEpox wood substitute. In my case the beam was 20 or 30 percent damaged from wood rot and under simple loading. ASTM tests show that WoodEpox has similar strength to softwoods such as pine and should withstand the stress with ease. I recommend this wood substitute for everything from building model airplanes to repairing surfboards as WoodEpox is as light as cork but strong enough. Suitable for any type of decorative replacement in the home as WoodEpox is easy to use, shape and machine.

Pros
  • Working time 20 minutes: WoodEpox has a working time (pot life) of 20-30 minutes and can be mixed and shaped by hand. The product is easy to model, shape, mold and paint. It can be applied in any thickness to restore missing wood. Disposable gloves are recommended.
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
