Pine and oak are so prone to rot when the outer sill

Fairly easy to cut and install and looks good from above once installed. Only oak and metal are visible. The photo shows the underside of the sill so both pine and oak are visible. In my setup, the door opens onto an outdoor patio that receives a lot of rain, so when it rains, the water hits the sill directly. I need to replace the pine floor with a hardwood floor, but a bit complex. Instead I'll treat it with a preservative and assume it will rot again in five years.
