I paint pumpkins and I love making interesting things out of pumpkins. Some of my birdhouses can be quite complex, like acorns, lighthouses, etc. I've tried to find clay that is air dry, that won't crack when drying, and that can handle being outside in inclement weather. I use this stuff to "upgrade" the features of my pumpkin aviary like adding window frames or door flocks. Ordinary clay, air dried, is not waterproof and will crack when dry. This polymer clay is quite expensive for the small amount you get. 5 oz. Greatness won't last long if you have a big project. For my use it was enough to add a few small details to a beacon bird house I made for a relative and it was enough for several other projects. This tone is quite easy to work with. It is not messy and easy to shape by hand. It takes several hours to set and harden. It also holds color well. It does not dry out very much, but remains slightly flexible. I made brackets for my bird house, shaped them to fit the curved shape of the pumpkin, then let them dry overnight, painted and glued the pieces where they should be. They changed shape slightly as they dried, but because they remained slightly flexible, I was able to glue them on with Gorilla Glue and press the piece in place long enough for the Gorilla Glue to set and hold it in the correct shape. .I wish it came in big chunks and wasn't so expensive. But that seems to be pretty much all that's available for waterproof, air dry clay. It did the job for my project and seems to be holding up well. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the price and the small quantity you get for the price.
