I mostly use my own typed or pre-painted dies but there are always a few old fashioned dies on a stick that require a pad and are custom made and should be used occasionally and should be found in the box a stamp pad. My old metal case, the raised pad pattern, has been repainted countless times, but it's gotten sticky and clearly dated, so I ordered this one. The body is plastic, the ink pad itself is completely flat and not rounded at the edges like the old traditional one, and the surface of the fabric is so thin I had to turn on a bright light to make sure it wasn't foam or felt .
