They're not as bright as your standard night light, so if that's what you're looking for, keep looking. That being said, this was for a hallway where I used to use a night light when my kids were younger. Now that they are older we wanted something that would give them enough light to lead them to the bathroom at night without disturbing their sleep. . On the other hand, since they are designed for decorative sockets that are larger than normal duplex sockets, the contact tails compress a lot. I had to adjust and manipulate the tabs multiple times to make them work and the lid fit without stress or bulging. The light comes from 3 small LEDs with a very cool spectrum, from white to light blue light. The lights dim depending on the ambient light and turn off when there is enough light.
