To shoot 8 frames per second at 18 MP, you need very high-speed flash drives. I shoot reports at 10MP - then 2 batteries are enough for the whole day and the buffer does not suffocate. If you look at the trend in the XX-series, we have a clear regression and glamorization (50D has worse noise than 40D, 60D has a plastic case and SD flash drives). Therefore, if you need a camera that is not the most expensive for work, then either switch to another brand, or take a 7D. It would be nice to insert "raw conversion in the device" into the next software firmware. Dear Canon, - you give cheap 8D (what a cool logo-smile I came up with for you) with a 10MPix matrix and better ISO-noise! It is possible without video, but if marketing forces, then video with autofocus.
