I think it's better for a lonely budgie.

I had one for a lone budgie (Atticus Finch) and he loved it. I have another one for the new Budgie Bros and they tolerate it. He does not attract the attention of two birds, like a loner. At the end of the day, when the sun shines on him, he stands out the most. Also, they walk around it as if it were an unwanted obstacle. I put it down first.
