This is the second Everpure cartridge that I have installed, including the original filter. When I last changed 1-2 years ago, everything was fine. For some reason I couldn't install the new cartridge properly this time. It's hard to tell when it was fully installed. Everything seemed fine, it worked fine for a couple of hours, and then the woman asked why the dishwasher was working (it was off). Flood in the kitchen! More excitement didn't help. The next morning I called tech support who was INCREDIBLY patient and helpful. It was entered correctly this time and has been working fine ever since. I would recommend Everpure to improve the cartridge installation instructions to include some technical support notes. Here are a few things I've learned: 1. Before changing the cartridge, make sure the water valve on the cartridge head is closed (it should rotate a full 180 degrees) and the filtered water tap is open to the system to empty. After the first splash, the water should not flow. Leave the tap on.2. The two tabs on the cartridge body must be passed through the two corresponding tabs on the filter head. Feel their heads to know where they are. The manual that came with it mentions something about aligning the mark on the chuck with the mark on the head, but I have never found any marks. The system is 180 degrees symmetrical, so its full rotation forward or backward is the same.3. BEFORE you remove the old cartridge, find out where it is. (My initial attempt didn't rotate it all the way, which I noticed but didn't realize was a problem.) 4. Insert the new cartridge into the head and rotate it about 60 degrees until it clicks into place. I have found that the main risk is that only one of the two lugs on the chuck makes contact with the lugs on the head. You can tell it's correct if it wobbles about half an inch at the bottom of the cartridge and if it's straight, parallel to the wall.5. Slowly open the valve on the filter head. Water should flow from the faucet, which can now be turned off. The bottom of the cartridge should no longer wobble a lot.
