Hot water bottles are filled with paraffin (which expands when heated) so be very careful not to overheat! At first it was hard for me to feel that they came out of the microwave hot enough, but one day they exploded (not in the microwave, at first they seemed fine, but then I opened the lunch box and everything was covered with Wax it got in EVERYWHERE) Disappointed that there isn't another thermogel that isn't as prone to expansion and explosion that they could use instead. Paraffin is very cheap; I would expect this lunch box to cost a little less if that's all it has. Anyway, FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS and just live with your food staying slightly warm and not hot.
